It started with Carla
Challenge The Label was born from our founder’s desire to live in a gender equal world.
Meet Carla. She’s a charity founder, CEO, wife, mother and lover of getting sand in her toes.
Carla was born with a rebel spirit, she wanted to experience everything that life had to offer and in doing so pushed the boundaries.
At the age of 17 she was arrested. This life changing moment saw her labelled as a “young offender.” This led her to dedicating her career to supporting people who had been labelled “homeless”, “addict” and so many other stigmatising labels.
As she progressed in her career, she came to see that labelling was a much bigger problem, it was everywhere. She was called “pushy” for advocating at work and “emotional” for crying in a Boardroom.
She’s had enough. So, she created a way to give women a voice…literally—a speaker agency.
Because spotlighting and celebrating women’s experiences and strengths can change the narrative and create a more gender-equal world.
Growing the movement #challengethelabel, shines a light on the power of labels and teaches how to own them as a superpower.
And the trifecta…Carla’s charity, Bridge It provides a home and support to young women, and gets 50% of CTL's profits.
